First, you’re not alone, it is estimated that 70% or more of all solar installers have gone out of business in last 10 years.  This poses major problems for people who have a warranty with their solar systems. If your system needs repair and your installer is out of business, you no longer have a warranty and any repairs would have to come out your pocket.  Your representative will assess your situation and provide you options for relief.

Every case is unique and timelines can vary depending upon your individual details.  Once you complete enrollment, your creditor will receive documentation and the relief process will begin.  On average most clients receive their relief in 8-18 months.

Often our clients will report they did not receive the promises they were sold. This could include performance, lack of completion, failure to install properly and often our clients feel deceived.  Our team will evaluate your situation and identify what promises were made and assess how this may help your claim for relief.

Dealer fees are often undisclosed fees that increase your loan balance, without the proper disclosures. This has been a common practice for many solar finance companies. Failure to disclose or improper disclosure of dealer fees may entitle you to a legal remedy for solar relief.

A UCC lien is a claim made by the solar lender to the panels and equipment, not your home. This claim is valid until your loan has been paid in full or the UCC lien expires. We understand lien issues and will be sure to address the lien in your solar relief program.

A secured solar loan is a loan that is tied to the panels and the equipment connected with your solar system.  This allows lenders to put a UCC lien tied to the equipment at your property address.  An unsecured loan has no collateral and there is no recourse in the event of defaulting on your loan.

If you’re given the opportunity to refinance your solar loan into your home mortgage, this may seem like an attractive option on paper, lowering payments and interest. However, once you refinance the loan into your mortgage, solar loan relief is no longer available because your debt as been paid through the new mortgage.

In most cases when an agreement is made our clients are able to keep their solar panels after a resolution has been made. Creditors may have the right to repossess the panels, however, due to the financial, logistical and liability risk, of removal is highly unlikely.

When an agreement or settlement is achieved and a client receives solar relief, there is a non-disclosure agreement which prevents case specific details from being released to the public.
